Did you know that there is a
Grief
Support Group in Wenatchee for
Survivors of Suicide Loss?
If
you are someone who has been touched by the loss of a loved one to suicide,
this group may be a place for you to come together with others who have
experienced a similar, painful loss. It could
be a place for you to begin to know that hope and healing are possible.
This
group is sponsored by The Compassionate
Friends of Wenatchee Valley (whose primary focus is supporting families after
the loss of a child). The Compassionate Friends has seen a
need in this community for a group that can support the unique grief process of
those who have lost a child, loved one, or friend to suicide, no matter whether
the death was recent or many years ago. It is a peer support group where everyone is considered to be a “wounded
healer.” Often it is in helping others
that we find our own healing. All that
is asked of participants is that they come with an openness to share and to
listen. Stories will all differ but
there is a camaraderie that encourages a special bond. All who find themselves on this grief journey
are invited to come and see what it is all about. You will be warmly welcomed!
The
group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at Grace Lutheran Church in
Wenatchee (1408 Washington Street) from 7:00-8:30 P.M. It is a time to:
Share your story Support others by
listening Gain insights and
wisdom from others Learn helpful
information about healing from suicide loss Create space for
emotion, memories and grief for the loss of a future for your loved one
Sometimes there is a focus on
a particular subject for discussion. Over the past few months some of the themes have been: guilt, coping, acceptance, moving forward,
hope, memory and legacy.
In
2020 the meeting dates are:
- January 14
- Februrary 11
- March 10
